The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
